O almighty and everlasting God, through the Holy Spirit, You prepared the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mary to be a worthy dwelling place of Your Divine Son. Through the name of the Holy Spirit, You sanctified St. John the Baptist, while still in his mother's womb. Hear the prayers of your humble servant who implores You, through the intercession of St. Gerard, to protect me from the dangers of childbearing and to watch over the child with which You blessed me. May this child be cleansed by the saving water of baptism and, after a Christian life on earth, may we, both mother and child, attain everlasting bliss in heaven. Amen.
we either meet our Zelie or we wait until Monday the 21st. It is down to the wire now, we appreciate any and all prayers for her heart and her general well being. I would also appreciate prayers that she will flip head down, as it stands now, I will be having a c-section, as they cannot induce a baby that is transverse.
Thank you and for those interested in more information on why we are choosing the name Zelie,

God Our Father, we praise You for Louis and Zélie Martin, a truly faithful husband and wife, who lived their Christian life in an exemplary way through their duties in life and practice of Gospel teaching. In bringing up a large family, in spite of trials, bereavements and suffering, they showed immense trust in You and obedience to Your will.
Lord deign to manifest Your will in their regard and grant me the favours I implore while praying that the father and mother of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus be presented as models of family life today.
Amen.

Though we did not celebrate his feast today, it is the feast of Thomas More. I received this, from another list and wanted to share it profundity.
Although I know well, Margaret, that because of my past wickedness I deserve to be abandoned by God, I cannot but trust in his merciful goodness. His grace has strengthened me until now and made me content to lose goods, land, and life as well, rather than to swear against my conscience. God's grace has given the king a gracious frame of mind toward me, so that as yet he has taken from me nothing but my liberty. In doing this His Majesty has done me such great good with respect to spiritual profit that I trust that among all the great benefits he has heaped so abundantly upon me I count my imprisonment the very greatest. I cannot, therefore, mistrust the grace of God.
By the merits of his bitter passion joined to mine and far surpassing in merit for me all that I can suffer myself, his bounteous goodness shall release me from the pains of purgatory and shall increase my reward in heaven besides.
I will not mistrust him, Meg, though I shall feel myself weakening and on the verge of being overcome with fear. I shall remember how Saint Peter at a blast of wind began to sink because of his lack of faith, and I shall do as he did: call upon Christ and pray to him for help. And then I trust he shall place his holy hand on me and in the stormy seas hold me up from drowning.
And finally, Margaret, I know this well: that without my fault he will not let me be lost. I shall, therefore, with good hope commit myself wholly to him. And if he permits me to perish for my faults, then I shall serve as praise for his justice. But in good faith, Meg, I trust that his tender pity shall keep my poor soul safe and make me commend his mercy.
And, therefore, my own good daughter, do not let you mind be troubled over anything that shall happen to me in this world. Nothing can come but what God wills. And I am very sure that whatever that be, however bad it may seem, it shall indeed be the best.
- from a letter written by Saint Thomas More from prison to his daughter Margaret
we are busy with our costume preparations and recipe finding to usher in another midsummers eve. This years celebration is bitter sweet, as we mourn Tasha Tudor, yet give thanks that we have been blessed by her life influencing ours in such a fun, beautiful and profound way. We never celebrated midsummers eve, until we read about Tasha Tudor doing so. Then we researched and found the connection between midsummers eve, the feast of St John the Baptist, and have partaken ever since. So go torch that bonfire in honor of St John, dress as fairies and elves and all sorts of wonderful woodland creatures, run and catch fire flys and spend some time in gratitude for lovers of fun and beauty. We will be with you in spirit.
and we are feeling a profound loss. Please remember dear, beautiful and lovely Tasha Tudor in your prayers.
I got this nifty idea from someones blog, and well I could not resist, as I have clothes pins laying about the yard. Is it just me, or do you love the smell and feeling of hanging your laundry? I actually get excitied thinking about the next load coming out of the washer, maybe it is a nesting pregnancy thing or the thought of saving on the electric bill, either way I am loving the clothes line.
