little peaks into the early decorating. First is my kitchen tree.  I love this little tree, decked out with minituare kithcen appliances .

and these little elves perched by my kitchen sink are so sweet

and how much do I love this .50 cent, thrift store find?  just perfect for cards, awaiting a stamp.

 

and my wreath, I reuse a square form  and fill it in with pine and boxwood.  dressed up with these wonderful white bells, alwasy brings me joy.

Fall fungi

We took adavantage of the rain clearing and the sun peeking out, to go out an observe the different fall fungi on our property.  Our mushroom field guide in hand we set off in search of the whimscal mushrooms, that one cannot help but find enchanting.  and find we did!

I spent today, harvesting several of my plants. The roots need to be 3 uears old, but you can harvest and use the leaves anytime.  This plant is so prolific it and easy to grow, every home should start some.

Both the root and leaves contain a gummy substance called mucilage. When mixed with water, it forms a slick gel that is used to coat the throat and stomach to reduce irritation. It is also applied topically to soothe chapped skin. Also great on burns!

to our hens, that have decided to start laying eggs in the window box, under my kitchen window.  Normally, these boxes are filled with flowers, but after this summer's drought and  neglect from ahem.....me, they are now handy nesting boxes.

Our own harvest

I love the simple beauty in gathering our own eggs and picking our early harvest.  The wholesome feeling of providing for your family is so rewarding.  It truly is the simple beauties in life that make my heart flutter.....
